The company strives to be an exemplary model of a sugar production factory in Thailand by building credibility with investors and stakeholders in business operations, adding value and promoting sustainable organizational growth, as well as managing according to good universal principles that benefit Thai society. This is to achieve goals and maintain excellence in ethics, which is the fundamental value of leading organizations.

Community Development and Participation Goals

The company has established strategic goals for community and social management based on continuously accumulated practices. The Group has defined strategic targets for the next phase to elevate the organization's role as a 'good citizen of the community" as follows:

Short-term Goals (Within 1 Year)

  • Establish systematic social impact assessment guidelines in business operation areas
  • Compile and create a database of social activities and outcomes achieved in each area
  • Increase the proportion of activities that respond to actual community needs at the local level by at least 30%

Medium-term Goals (Within 3 Years)

  • Develop a community sustainability policy framework aligned with SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals)
  • Expand systematic social benefit projects such as vocational programs, youth development programs, and environmental problem reduction programs to at least 5 projects per year
  • Increase collaboration levels with local organizations or civil society sectors to jointly drive activities in at least 50% of all projects

Long-term Goals (Within 5 Years)

  • Become a model organization for community relations in the sugar industry with concrete monitoring systems and social impact measurement
  • Create a sustainable farmer community network covering at least 80% of the Group's sugarcane cultivation areas
  • Implement projects that help improve community quality of life in education, occupation, health, and environment in at least 3 areas in every province where business operations exist

Khon Kaen Sugar Industry Public Company Limited places importance on sustainable community and social development to improve quality of life and strengthen communities sustainably. The company has developed multidimensional community and social management plans as follows:

Employment and Vocational Skills Development
Through diverse training programs and the KSL Natural Agriculture Center, which provides training and study visits for interested parties, enabling people to become self-reliant, earn income to support families, and create strong vocational groups at the community level.

Education
Improving local school quality, providing scholarships, hiring teachers, supporting school transportation, school lunch programs, and developing educational facilities suitable for children's learning. This includes preserving local arts, culture and traditions through collaboration with temples, communities, and educational institutions to instill good values in youth.

Natural Resources
The company and communities collaborate on forest conservation and restoration through reforestation projects, tree planting for future capital projects, planting 100,000 trees toward a low-carbon society, and campaigning for valuable and sustainable resource use to ensure resources can be passed on to future generations in balance.

Sports and Recreation
The company provides exercise areas, supports exercise equipment for communities, and participatory community activities such as youth sports and elderly activities to promote physical and mental health for all ages.

Occupational Health and Safety
The company provides occupational safety training for communities, safe agriculture practices, and visits educational institutions regarding safety through the Safe School Project. This includes annual mobile health checkups and continuous health consultations to ensure community well-being.

Disadvantaged and Vulnerable Groups
The company provides opportunities for elderly and disabled persons to work in the company, such as at the Natural Agriculture Center, employing elderly to transfer cultural knowledge and agricultural practices to interested parties and young generations. Rehabilitation activities for vulnerable patients are conducted with hospitals, specialized vocational training, and visits to vulnerable individuals to ensure equal opportunity and dignity for all community members.

Water Management and Sanitation
The company recognizes the importance of water for both consumption and agriculture through various projects such as supporting water reservoir construction, funding groundwater drilling in communities, and supporting clean water filtration systems to ensure community health.

Religion and Culture
The company aims to promote morality, ethics, and community identity through religious and cultural activities by supporting religious ceremonies, meditation practices, local wisdom preservation, and annual traditional festivals to build community unity and sustainably pass on religious and cultural values to youth.

Reducing Social Inequality
A key goal achieved through equitable allocation of educational and economic opportunities, ensuring equality and fairness for all individuals, and providing opportunities for all groups to participate in various processes to reduce social inequality.
